Wal-Mart sees April sales near low end of forecast
Monday April 26, 7:52 am ET

CHICAGO, April 26 (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE:WMT - News) on Monday said it still expects April sales at U.S. stores open at least a year to reach the low end of its 4 percent to 6 percent growth forecast, primarily because the period included fewer Easter shopping days.

On a recorded message updating sales through April 23, the world's biggest retailer said electronics, food, lawn and garden equipment, pet supplies and sporting goods were among the best-selling categories.

Wal-Mart has said all month that April sales would likely reach only the low end of its forecast because Easter fell on April 11 this year, nine days earlier than last year, pushing some demand into March.
