That's what they arranged at Bretton Woods. If you want to change it you will have to change the whole system

Of course I have no problem with your response.

Once the US had the system locked into the US dollar under Bretton Woods they reneged on the obligations of that agreement but kept the advantages it conferred on them. No country was in a position to challenge them and in the 30+ years that have followed the US hegemony has ensured that the weak get weaker and the US gets stronger.

The whole system is now completely unfair and it will have to change, eventually. I can't see a simple way for you or I to achieve that though ;-)
