I did try and give a listen to the one fellow's discussion of the mystery of the "trinity"...on that Christian site .
I'm sure he is well meaning fellow , but that discussion was about as "enlightening" as watching a man trying to plow a field of hot asphalt with a dull plow and one starving three-legged ox.
Doesn;t it ever seem to catch your eye , that in every case where there is a point of extreme detail , and a philosophical paradigm or in his use of any metaphor or example ...he relies and consults back to the ancient Greek mind and Greek root vocabulary ? Those damed pagans again, who were living in sin.<G>
In almost every instance , when we are looking for examples of civil , personal and existential growth and transformation ...we find it already discussed at length and with greatest clarity and "revelation" by those thinkers from that time . And then along comes Peter, Paul & Mary ..the miracles and eternal life promises and wonder stories , that resulted in burning every book later that was deeemed "heretical" .
Where's the originality Greg ? Since the most fundamental revelations , rationales , moral discussions were already most finely tuned & evolved beforehand, given distinct form and structure .... that 2500 yhrs later , you & every theologian are having to use almost all of those thinkers own words/language , thoughts and ideas ?
It doesn't even catch your eye ...fortunately for all , you do not make up or control the major bulk of the world's University curriculums. |
