CAULKING

I probably went over board on my condemnation of synthetic stucco because any contractor would say it's ok IF you install it like this or that and use it here but not there etc. So much depends on craftsmanship.
But I didn't go over board on caulking. I remembered a good example and logged to type it.
The church I attended some eight years ago built an addition back in 86. My father still attends the same church. So one night over a dinner plate he told me that the newer addition needs to be completely resided at a cost of thirty five grand. Seems it wasn't caulked and repainted when it should of been so the joints all became exposed to moisture "ends were not sealed probably during construction" and swelled. Now it's dry rotted at every joint the boards abut.
Thirty five thousand where paint would of cost twenty five hundred.
