I just want to follow up with that problem I mentioned at the beginning of the month in which every single page loaded with IE caused extremely heavy CPU usage in what appeared to be an exchange between IE and windows explorer. this usage tied up the computer for about 5 seconds every time a page was loaded.

I used Hijack to determine that there was a program called
"zopescj.exe" running from the Windows/System32 folder which semed to be an unauthorized program. I had some difficulty removing it due to the fact I couldn't remember the administrator passsword, but I was finally able to delete the program and it fixed the problem, IE pages now load normally.

anyone having problems with "slow" pages may want to look into this. evidently my wife loaded this program onto her machine about the time of the mydoom messages. it was dated nov 2003.

anyway, thanks very much for referring me to pitstop and hijack - I would never have found the problem otherwise
