But that is the problem. Colour is only colour. But creed and religion are attitudes and values. Religious creeds (in particular) generally insist on an Absolute set of moral beliefs--beliefs which often are very judgmental of the moral beliefs of others. If you want to have BOTH peace on earth AND freedom of religion, then religions have to start honoring freedom of religion. But even if they accept the "right" to free religious thought, they won't accept the blessed nature of those whom follow a different God, will they? Because where religions condemn and oppose other religions, there is only blood. The only peace is the part that can be sewn back on after the bomb or bullet...and that is not necessarily a workable peace. |
