michael,

Solely IMHO: Two likely programs would befirst with Maxtor in Asia. Today you all probably received the Second Quarter Report from Smartflex. Note that it said that customers will begin to qualify the Cebu, Phillippines Plant shortly. Also the Singapore expanded both surface mount and Chip-on-Flex capacity. I think part of this relates to Maxtor's mid-range volume disk drive program.

Also note on the upgraded Monterrey, Mexico Facility that Smartflex stated "All of our customers have qualified this facility." That combined witht he fact that three of the ten new programs SFLX started last quarter involved the new Flip-Chip technology makes me think that the Mexico Plant may start up a volume program for WDC, based upon the FCOF qualifying program that Western Digital has been running with Smartflex....

Finally also note thatSmartflex stated that revenues from non-hard disk drive orders doubled quarter over quarter. That trend should at least continue into later part of this year as computer sales increase into the fall/winter buying season.....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
