COLUMBIA, Md., Mar 9, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- GSE Systems, Inc. (GSE) (AMEX:GVP), a leading global provider of real-time simulation systems for the energy, process, manufacturing and government sectors announced the award of several recent simulation projects. The total value of the contracts exceeds $6 million and increases the Company's total backlog of projects to approximately $30 million.
The projects will be implemented over an 18 month period and include the installation of advanced simulation models for the Vermont Yankee and Monticello nuclear station training simulators, as well as a major replacement of simulator models at the Cooper nuclear station simulator. Several smaller contracts were awarded for fossil and process simulator projects in the United States and Canada. The company also received contracts for modifications and enhancements to simulators in Ukraine purchased through the Battelle's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. In addition to the simulator upgrades, GSE also received in excess of approximately $500,000 in licensing revenues from its state of the art simulation technology.

The company received contracts for modifications, enhancements and technology licenses for simulators in Ukraine and Bulgaria purchased through Battelle's Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. In addition, the company received several simulator modification contracts for advanced models and services in the US, Europe and Asia. Several customers also renewed their annual simulator maintenance contracts, which provide simulator services and annual updates to the latest simulation technology. Finally, the company received a contract to upgrade a fossil plant simulator initially installed in the 1980s. These projects are expected to be implemented over the course of the next year.
