Quoting Ben Gurion who was a great man of his time is really not adding to the debate. You would have to go back and quote Nassar and how he was going to "drive the Jews into the sea."

There are extremists in Israel. The level of this extremity is no where near what exists in the Arab lands and among the Palestinian terror groups.

As much as I don't particular like Sharon, I think he knows the pulse of the political life in Israel. He was obviously getting nowhere with Arafat, who has sacked his own PM's. His unilateral withdrawal and moves to secure the Bush administration support, together with killing the terrorist leaders, have been brilliant.

Yet, he is not doing the one thing that I think he should do and that may be because he is trying to shore up support in Likud. Instead of publicly threatening Arafat and making a hero out of an incompetent (his own people think he is corrupt), make a grand overture of peace. Use the current strength to make a statement, a proposal, something outside the current box.

I'd say the same thing to Hamas. Let them announce that they will not attack anyone for a 6 months period. let them put the pressure on Sharon to come up with some sort of peace initiative.
