Kerry never brags about his war heroism. And you see, he served on a carrier escort. I believe that's how he crossed ther Pacific to Vietnam. Far from combat? Maybe, but in war you never know. Soon after he was assigned as a skipper in the most dangerous hot zone in Vietnam, the Mekong Delta, just like in APOCALYPSE NOW (without Marlon Brando)
