my feeling about Russell is that he's too verbose (low yield of useful information), and many of his ideas are half-baked. i think of Fleck the same way (he was a great contrary indicator when he started touting the Australian Dollar right before the top was put in), though thankfully he doesn't have logorrhea. i'm not going to renew my subscription with either or them.

actually i think Contrary Investor is the best subscription quality-wise, along with Grant. the CI people understand all the arguments that Fleck or Russell make--in fact understand the arguments much better--but also have a better historical perspective and a bit of subtlety in their approach. Grant i fear is nearly as monolithic as Fleck and Russell, but he hides it better since he's a much better writer. CI is definitely the best bang for the buck since the price works out to about $1 an issue. they also include info from the likes of Ned Davis and other institutional-type sources.
