The military made a conscious decision not to report estimated civilial deaths (as well as estimated Iraqi military deaths). Just as they banned photographs of the coffins of US soldiers killed.

If you get the feeling that you are being spoon fed the news, it's OK, just don't try to close your mouth or you might chip a tooth.
