Thoughts on The Price of Oil as an Adjustment Mechanism.

Is Greenspan thinking the higher price of oil has created a synthetic tightening, of monetary conditions? The linkages he made in today's speech almost sound foundational to a later speech, in which I could imagine him asserting that higher energy prices have already done "some of the work" for the Fed.

Regardless of what A.G. is thinking or dreaming however, isn't the price of oil nearly as pervasive as the price of money?
