SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Chipmaker RF Micro Devices (RFMD) said after the market closed Tuesday that it sees fiscal first-quarter earnings, excluding charges, of 3 cents a share to 4 cents a share, just shy of the 5-cent average estimate of analysts polled by Thomson First Call. RF Micro said its fourth-quarter loss was $859,000, equivalent to breakeven on a per-share basis, compared to a loss of $12.98 million, or 7 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding a $7.7 million non-cash, asset impairment charge, the company turned a profit of 4 cents a share in the latest period, matching the average forecast compiled by First Call. Revenue rose 18.1 percent to $163.4 million, topping the average estimate of $161.1 million.
