Hard to tell whether this is a pretext looking to explain poor results or the real deal:

9:19AM National-Oilwell misses by $0.15 (NOI) 30.8: Reports Q1 (Mar) earnings of $0.13 per share, $0.15 worse than the Reuters Research consensus of $0.28; revenues fell 0.9% year/year to $496.0 mln vs the $517.0 mln consensus. Company says ""Our first quarter results suffered in part due to the positive outlook that we see. We cannot justify significantly reducing fixed costs when we clearly see a need that is only months away"
