Hawkmoon, thanks for showing your true colors. You have to label me "liberal" and then defend a course of the evolution of rights and liberties in this country that was secured over the opposition of the conservatives of the day. So I guess you are "liberal" too, but only retroactively.

I love my country as much as you do, but I don't believe that any of it's course was preordained, and we are not going to "uncage" the democratic instinct by launching illegitimate wars in the Middle East. We are living up to the cartoon that our enemies paint of us-- that we only care about Israel and will turn a blind eye to any outrage by the Israelis, and that we are outraged by human rights abuses and WMD programs only in Arab countries that are not tamed--while our tamed Arab "friends" are every bit as despotic as Saddam's Iraq.

Every day it becomes more clear that Bush intended to go to war in Iraq and was willing to create a rationale to do it. The WMD argument you cited for the past year is now "BS." Well we agree; it was always BS.

Iraq was such a dangerous country that it took us 21 days to conquer it. If I rely on hindsight, at least it is 20/20; your myopia seems limitless when it comes to the facts staring you in the face.

Finally, you identify the "real threat" Islamo-Fascist militants waiting to pounce. We don't need any rationale, strategy, or morality to fight them. We just need to launch the crusade. Like I said: true colors coming through.
