JF, A surprising un-Christian attitude.

There's nothing un-Christian about protecting individual freedoms. Perhaps you were turned off by my "simple human nature" phrase. I didn't mean to say that all people are inherently bad. I meant to say that the concept of the "great society" is not only insufficient in combating the evils of the world, but also suppressive to those who truly want to help, because they find themselves limited by the rules of the "great society."

Here's an example: If we can't trust the rich to be charitable on their own, then why don't we force Bill and Melinda Gates to fork over everything in their foundation to the government? After all, haven't we always been good people?
