the qualifier "just in a more advanced form" is the weasel term which makes your statement meaningless. i guess according to your definition, the exploitation in the US today is the same as 100 years ago, "just in a more advanced form". and the slave labor used to build pyramids in the days of Cheops was just a "less advanced form" of today's exploitation. and exploitation of J6P who makes 100K a year and has to work some weekends is just a more "advanced form" of child slave labor throughout history.
