I said Bush Sr., Cheney or top Republican conservatives, nimbus. Richard Shelby of Alabama for instance, hardly some "liberal" who as myth would have it is "weak on defense". Kerry is therefore just as "strong" on defense as any of them, although most of those bills were also based on the cost of such programs, or being smart to allocate the money elsewhere, for instance on the ground secret agents instead of mokre spy satellites.

And let's not forget that those macho Bushies were the ones asleep at the wheel who let 9-11 happen despite many warnings, then totally flubbed the post-war planning in Iraq. As many people including me said way back when, the invasion would be the easy part. Nothing macho about sending the US military to invade a 3rd world country with no air force. The macho part is standing up to real threats. One of threats these days is the complete conflict of interest Bushies have with respect to the oil business and Saudis.
