In any event, in the case of armor for tanks, the ideas was dropped in favor of "reactive armor" some good 20/25 years ago.

But the only problem is that reactive armor is only effective against shape charges (HEAT) rounds... They do little to stop a kinetic energy DU round...

This could be very interesting stuff.. Did you read that PDF report? They've been ablet achieve the same degree of protection as 10 layers of Kevlar, but using only 4 layers of treated STF.

(from memoty, we needed at least 10 inch thickness to allow for the thixotropic properties to develop).

This may be a new compound they are using though Zeev..

And Kevlar has a difficult time stopping a sharp cutting object like an arrow (depending on if it was a target, or bladed tip).. I don't believe they specified the type of arrow tip.
