I have some very vague recollections of ADSL dropping data packets because TCP presumes that the dropped packets are due to Internet congestion rather than background noise or some other reason. As a result, the transmission of data packets are temporarily suspended (due to the missing data packets) and the user/process at either end of the transmission connection may "see" the final result as a truncation problem (for example, a truncated view or screen, or in the case you're citing, a truncated message).

I'm not saying that this is what's happening to this poster. I'm merely trying to recall from memory, and failing memory at that <g>, a similar problem I once encountered. I cannot recall how or what was done to resolve the darned thing, but I do think it was fixed at the ISP level though I'm not sure how...
