Nice analysis of their mind-boggling (prospective) valuation. That key point got lost in every other glowing report out there.

The Dutch auction is not perfect and reports of it's disadvantages are already widely available. However, it is closer to the eBay-ization of the IPO process.

i still think of Google fondly for reasons other than monetary. Hard to imagine life without it. They certainly have brought a sense of (the golden age of) democracy back to the Internet (as similar to the late 80's puppy-love Archie & Gopher era). Only eBay and Yahoo (to a lesser extent) are comparable, in as much as it gives much power to the user.

However, it appears that one of Google's projects (Gmail) has backfired. That really seems very unlike googlo-think. i still think of it as an April fool's joke.

Love the company philosophy! Not touching the stock with a long pole.
