"Some idiots do, no doubt...but that's not even close to the average effective tax paid"
I believe that chart provided by Dietrich said the effective rate for the top 1% was in the 33% range. And note that I don't consider people who lawfully pay their taxes to be idiots (unlike you). There are no special loopholes for the "mega-rich" as you like to call them (or is it idiots?)
"Then you should be STRONGLY for effective tax reform"
When I see a reasonable plan put out I may be. But ridiculous ones that suggest we use Russia's systems and rates is not reasonable. It is "pie in the sky".
"loopholes, etc"
You LOVE this word. Why won't you say what they are?For INCOME, they are the SAME for everybody. Your mortgage is the biggest one, and rich guys have to buy houses also. You can have a primary residence, and ONE secondary residence (boat, RV, cabin, etc. count for this. ANY houses or dwellings over two do not get the mortgage write off. PLEASE list some of these "loopholes" you are so concerned about and I will join your side. Can't beat that deal, can you?
"(considering all the Fat Cats and others who disproportionately benefit for special loopholes and subsidies)"
You will just keep merrily spewing this LIE, and use it to back your position. In addition to your derogatory remarks about wealthy people (idiots, fat cats) I believe you have another agenda. Will your position change if you see that there are no INOCOME TAX LOOPHOLES for ANY INCOME BRACKET?
I seriously doubt it. Too much fun to malign a group of Americans in a way that allows your dislike for them to be justified. You should be (imo) appreciative of the people that pay the most, but to you they are just "idiots".
Tell you what. Not many "idiots" make it to the top. There are quite a few in the entertainment and sports fields imo, but not too many in the business world. You'd be a good candidate to give it a try though. LOL |
