Bush is from the #1 most elite family in the US, and always sides with the rich elite in terms of economic issues. Kerry is also from an elite background (without the powerful father or family money though) and worked his way up the hard way, starting with combat. Kerry defends the rights and interests of average Americans, veterans and small businessmen, Bush the elite corporate CEO class. Bush the polluters, Kerry the environment.
