At least EBAY has something that differentiates it from Google. I think the barrier to entry to compete with EBAY is significant enough that it would cause Google to look elsewhere first.

Although... if they've been working on such a project all this time, quietly, that would be very interesting indeed.

In the meantime Google needs to be concerned about MSFT or YHOO getting their respective acts together.
