Some people see killing for human rights in the same category as doing some rather naughty to further the cause of virginity. Not wanting to go to war over human rights is not the same thing as not "willing to lift a finger to fight for them"- there are sometimes better ways of fighting (at least in some people's opinions), that don't involve killing and maiming people, or occupying the country of the people you are trying to "help".

Now you could argue that a war was the only way to "help"- which would be more logical that what you have actually said, which simply isn't true, since many of those "anti-war types" knew about the abuses in Iraq, and were working with AI or other organizations to fight human rights abuses for years. Everything is polarized enough already, there is not need (imo) to overstate things.
