Could Cheney now be Bush's "father"? Remember, Bush Sr. was always accused of being "a wimp", and pulled back from invading Iraq. I heard that charge hurt GW and made him ashamed. Maybe because GW himself was "weak". Not a "real man". GW was always seen by his father as "weak" for his alcohol and drug use earlier in his life (though Neil was the weakest). GW was also a wash-out in the Air Guard unlike his father, and a cheerleader in school instead of an athlete.

Jeb was the father's favorite son, and GW was always jealous since he was the oldest and should have been the number one son.

Winning the White House was great revenge against the father and GW showed him up once in power, GW dissed his father in an early White House interview, GW refused to seek counsel from his father, though no one is more expert in how to handle Iraq and the Gulf.

GW brought in Cheney to "replace" his father so to speak. However, by 2000, Cheney had changed from reasonable man into ruthless far rightwing big oil/industrial super lobbyist zealot.

Cheney realized GW was an inexperienced pretender deep-down and realizaed he would be the "real president". And so Cheney drove policy ever since day one and acted like a dictatorial CEO, stonewalling or destroying anyone who tried to question him no matter how wrong or corrupt he was being.
