Do you really want an answer, or is this a rhetorical question? (because I've read plenty of material about what various anti-war folks think about the mass graves (and the dates of those graves)- and I'm sure you must have seen some of this material yourself) You are surely informed about AI, and what they do, and what they propose, and how outraged they and all their liberal supporters are by human rights abuses- and you must be aware of what other humanitarian organizations propose to solve human rights problems like this (solutions that do not usually include military activities).
I started writing letters on Iraq back in the 70's, if I recall correctly (could have been the early 80's, I don't remember- but I've been writing letters for AI since I was a little kid)- and I got some pretty interesting responses from my government. Do you think it is just possible you don't notice the things "those folks" do about human rights violations because you don't agree with what they are doing? I do think right now liberals are more upset by the war, than they are by the human rights violations which occurred some time ago AND which many liberals were complaining about already, and writing about long before it because an issue on blogs. Some liberals (like me) feel that the conservatives came a little late to the human rights violations party, and that perhaps heavy weaponry isn't the kind of party gift to bring.
I am floored, quite frankly, that you could think there are people who are not outraged by mass graves. I think you confuse outrage over mass graves, with responding to the knowledge of mass graves, and the accompanying outrage, the way you do. |
