Yes Ish, you "shouldn't trust [Bilow] or [his] links." That was EXACTLY the point that Bilow was making.

What you SHOULD do is to read all the points of view, all the purported "factual" information and then do some "critical thinking."

Critical thinking requires that you look for consistencies and inconsistencies both WITHIN the points of view and "facts" presented AND BETWEEN those and the wisdom you've gained from living and learning in your own lifetime.

Some of us don't do that. We defer to those we view as smarter, wiser, better informed, more experienced, and maybe even silly things like taller. Some very smart people fall into this category and they are wizards at finding innovative reasons to reject any criticism of the decisions made or facts presented by their "man in charge."

I call this the "man in charge" syndrome. Many Germans under Hitler believed that the Jews were a scourge on Germany and the world and should have been "purged," partly because they "trusted" in that judgement made by their leader. Many whites in the South believed that blacks were subhuman and needed to be "kept in their places" because they were told that in their churches and by their leaders. Many in this country believe that liberals are closet communists, American haters and will not fight to protect their country because they hear it from "leaders" like Limbaugh on a daily basis and because it's implied at even higher levels of government.

Bilow's list of the Iraqi theories the Bush "believers" accept is a good one, and there are many who will continue to believe ALL of them unless and until their "trusted" leader tells them not to.

It's a counterintuitive thing since an individual's ability to think is sometimes much greater than his ability to think for himself. I perceive of such people as having "disciple personalities." It's a sad thing to see a good mind reduced to playing a supporting role in the game of life.
