Actually, from an economic point-of-view, I think the war has backfired. Traditionally, and following true Keynsian theory, the US has always been able to come out of recessionary situations by means of printing money and making war, eg WW2, Korea, Vietnam, but not this time. Yes, the economy has improved but in a way most people don't understand because there is little increase in employment or in productivity. Meanwhile, the increasing debt gets bigger and bigger and ties the US to China and Japan in a way never before imagined or imagined possible.

Meanwhile, the war is a disaster and hasn't achieved one benefit to anyone that I can think of, certainly in the US. Actually, there are times when I seriously believe Kerry hopes he loses. I would not like to be in his shoes, to have to clean up this mess.
