Kerry spent 120+ days in hot zone combat conditions (beyond anything in Iraq these days) without a break. He and his men were shot at constantly. He is credited with 20+ enemy kills, took three wounds and saved many lives. His won the Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. His offer's reports were exemplary, sterling and proof that he was more than worthy of his medals. Prior to the 120 days up the Mekong he served honorably, including with an air craft carrier escort.

Meanwhile, Bush went AWOL the entire year of 1972 and left the Guard 8 months early after jumping over a 150 man waiting list to get into the champagne no-action draft-dodgers unit to begin with. He further refused to take his mandatory drug test and was rumored to have been arrested for cocaine in 1972. Cheney dodged the draft using 5 deferrments in a row. Delay did the same. Limbaugh did the same. That is what we mean by CHICKENHAWK. THose who avoided war have no right to be criticizing our real combat heros, including McCain, Cleland and Kerry, all of whom they have slandered.
