American soldiers brutalized Iraqis. How far up does the responsibility go?

It is well established doctrine in our Armed Forces that a commander is responsible for everything his unit does and fails to do.

I was impressed that the initial Article 32 investigation has already been held. I expect decisions are now being made as to whether a special or a general court-martial is to be convened for each individual involved.

I have no doubt investigations continue. A lot of folks have already rotated out of that unit back to the US and some likely are out of the Army. The Army will want to clean up the entire mess and will leave no stone unturned in this investigation.

The NCOs and Officers who will comprise the Court-Martial Boards will due their duty and do it well.

I feel certain that the perpetrators are in pre-trial confinement. I would like to see a press release announcing that. Just to let the world know that these folks are locked up.
