US may not be a threat. Only that it is not seen as a fair arbiter of disputes. And the onus is on US to prove otherwise.

Let me ask you a question. Why should it be fair? The US has spent, or will eventually spend, well over $200 Billion (before all is said and done), containing, invading, and rebuilding Iraq from the ground up. And that doesn't even mention the cost in precious American lives to carry out such a mission.

Now do you see any other nations making such a committment? The minute you do, please tell us and I think we'd all agree that they need to be fairly represented in Iraq.

As for disputes in general, can you name for me any particular nation, government, or individual that can TRULY be seen as a fair arbiter of disputes? I highly doubt it. Just name someone and I bet there will be someone else who will be able to question their objectivity.

And we're not different, being a democracy, where a plethora of special interests and agendas mix together to create our foreign policy.

How do you measure the threat? By the numbers killed by islamic miltants or by their impact on world economy.

Both.. Because the result will be both.. An entire lost generation of Muslim youth trapped in economic stagnation and repression. To be followed by an exodus of them either trying to escape to the prosperity of the West, or attempting to infiltrate it with their militant values.

India has probably been the most affected for the last 15 years.

And wouldn't you acknowledge that India's pledge to continuing democractic government has provided a pressure relief valve where militant and extremist values are filtered and diluted by the mainstream electorate?

I believe this is what we must vy for throughout the muslim world.. A pressure relief valve where militants are deprived of any excuse for advancing their extremist values by violence.. If they want to promote Islamism, then let them convince the majority of an entire population that it is the best form of government... And then require them to remain accountable via fair and regular elections.
