Searle, I'm afraid that American families are too mesmerized by the boob tube and their electronic gadgets to complain much. I bet you can remember how your Grandparents were multi-talented, didn't ask anyone for a handout and seemed to always stand tall and provide for their children no matter what their economic plight.

I wonder, are we capable of ever pulling ourselves up by our own bootstraps like our dear old loved ones who went through the depression? My Grandfather was fortunate to have a job with the railroad but he started off as a water boy for them when he was fourteen years old. He provided for a brother and eight kids without complaint.
