Michael,

What is your feeling regarding MicroDrives versus Compact Flash? I have always thought that solid state CF would be more secure than a rotating hard drive - but I have had two Compact Flash chips fail for no apparent reason ( I did not remove them while they were being written to ) and I have talked with photographers on line who are using 4 - 6 years old microdrives that still work flawlessly. They say any shock that would damage a MicroDrive will destroy your camera anyway - AN interesting alternative view, so just leave it in your camera and don't remove it until you are at home again.

A 4 Gb MicroDrive can be purchsed for $369.95 here flash-memory-store.com - A lot cheaper than the the CF equivalent.
