Actually, I'd be less inclined to even respond to some
folks if I wasn't subject of personal attacks, ET AL
(which includes other instances of disrespectful
behavior). I'm sure you've noticed a few times when I
actually responded to these attacks in the past, so I
doubt we're in disagreement on whether or not this has
occurred.
Although they were unwarranted & I brought it to their
attention, no one has felt it warranted a retraction,
explanation or an apology. That speaks volumes to me about
how they perceive me & what type of person I'm dealing
with. So for these folks, I do tend to take some of their
stuff more personally.
I figure that if I can stay within the established limits
of community standards, so should everyone else. When I am
subjected to unfair treatment long enough, I'll stand up
for myself, but not stoop to their level.
I fully understand your desire to welcome a wider
audience, particularly the desire to attract more folks
with liberal POV's. I also understand why you are more
lenient with them in order to achieve that goal. A goal I
agree is actually a good thing for this thread, which,
IMO, is the best of the political threads on SI.
Since I sincerely agree with what you are attempting to
accomplish, I will try to take the high road & let it go.
