Nortel to Ramp Up Channel Operations
By Bhavika Jhaveri Mumbai, May 3, 2004
In a bid to spread its network across the country, Bangalore based, Nortel Networks is in the process of ramping up its channel operations.
Talking about its plans was the director, marketing and channels, Sanjay Jotshi. "We plan to build up the whole support and channel network. We are trying to enhance our reach in the very important B and C class cities.'
With branches present in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, the company is all set to make its presence felt. Jotshi reckons that Nortel has a huge array of products, but due to the lack of reach, hampers its product offerings.
The company follows a two-tier distribution model, with Ingram Micro as its national distributor. “Our immediate focus will be on the tier-2 partners. We are on the look out to appoint partners from various B class cities, as higher number of partners would guarantee higher revenues,” he added.
With 40 channel partners already under its belt, Nortel is looking to select around 100 partners, by the end of the year. Emphasising on its roadmap to cover newer cities, Nortel will also roll out roadshows for the end users.
“We want our products to reach cities like Kolkata, Pune, Chandigarh and so on. Our teams has commenced with the process of enrolling resellers for our bronze programs. So, it will be a combination of A and B class cities.”
Nortel also plans to unveil a channel oriented scheme by the end of the current quarter, along with launch of security and switching products for the SMB segment. |
