My guess is they were either:

(1) Angling to get on the Jerry Springer show ("Women who sodomize men with broom handles and the men they sodomized!"), or

(2) Hoping to create a new reality show for Fox network ("Bad boys bad boys, what cha gonna do when they torture you ...").
