Ira, the naming of an Iraqi general named Latif to help with the efforts to free his own people reminded me that I had not read Ike's thread in the last few months. I came across your fine attempt at setting straight a couple of "glass-always-half-empty" antagonists here on the thread.
While I wish God's blessing on your efforts, I see that such ridiculous, ill-informed, hate-filled comments as: "You seem to be drastically uninformed about how the military sees itself as being above the law. I'm surprised at your naivete.", and: "Of course I am angry at the troops that did this, but I have even more anger for their chain of command. This sort of thing can be minimized by making it very clear to the soldiers that they will obey not just the letter of the Geneva Convention, but also the spirit. This is something that HAS NOT BEEN DONE." show that the posters think they have a Kerry-like clairvoyance on the ills of the Bush administration.
