The movement for term limits. Even when the voters vote for someone they don't want to take responsibility for who they vote in, they want a law to preclude them from voting for someone. This is a "democratic" movement to limit democracy!

In principle one could generally agree with you. But there's also something to be said for attempting to prevent our representatives from establishing political office as an actual career, and carving out political "fiefdoms" from which to dominate other representatives. This is not what the founders of our nation had in mind, IMO..

Again, there is a balance that must be worked out between preserving a measure of institutional competence, sometimes only obtained after years in office, and political domination via cronyism and tyrannical incumbency.

Personally, I don't know where that line must be drawn..

But like pornography... I generally know it when I see it.. ;0)

And Sen. Robert Byrd is probably the best example I can mention at the moment.
