The "Final Solution" for German Jews was postponed, mostly for political reasons, not so for Eastern European Jews.

I recommend Ordinary Men, written from interviews with the old worn out German men, mostly policemen who were too old for the military, the Nazis used to kill most of Poland's Jews, one bullet in the back of the head at a time. Sad, but true. Just ordinary men, a lot like you, who did their duty, fortified by lots of schnapps. You can buy a used copy for $5 plus shipping.
