Hi jttmab; Re: "The U.S. Marine plan to have former Iraqi soldiers restore order in Fallujah ran into trouble Sunday as the former Iraqi general heading the new force denied there were any foreign fighters in the city, calling into question his commitment to American military objectives."

I have to admit that I laughed out loud when I read that. It reminds me of what I figured the Iraqis would say about the guys who ran the contractor barbecue that started this recent flare-up. "The perpetrators died in the fighting against the Marines". Another good one would be "The perpetrators were from Syria and they went back there." Then there's always, "We have found the perpetrators and punished them appropriately (for abuse of a corpse without a license)."

Expecting the US military to roll over Falloujah while the whole world watches is just a bit much. If Al Jazeera had broadcast footage from Stalingrad back over the TV (well, movies maybe) in Germany, Hitler would have lost his job.
