Nevertheless, wrong is wrong, and abusing prisoners is not to be tolerated.

Seems to me like this thread has deteriorated into a shouting match between people who want the US to lose the war in Iraq for reasons of their own, mostly because they think it will help get a Democrat elected Prez in 2004, or maybe help their puts go into the money, and people who are defending the US, and I am getting bored.

Let's try to avoid getting sucked into that.

Here's a bit of good news:
