coug,

Re: So maybe you are right.. I think the US should be better. Much better.. So I guess both our standards are set quite high..

I draw a huge distinction between ordinary Americans such as ourselves and the rapscallions who rise to positions in our society where they can justifiably be called "malefactors of great wealth".

The people of the United States are a good and decent lot. As good as any people on the planet.

The problem lies with the elites of this nation, be they military, corporate or governmental. And there is, of course, a network of influence between all these sectors.

It is these elites who have so completely given up on any sense of decency or morality. It is they who concoct their cockamamie delusions about creating a all-powerful American Empire in the New American Century.

They are but a tiny handful of mostly men, whose lust for power, wealth and inaccountability has made them the greatest threat that the planet has ever faced.

Unfortunately, today they control U.S. foreign policy. Today, they control the U.S. Treasury. They control the U.S. corporations which are so ruthlessly damaging the very manufacturing base that created the glorious burst of middle class prosperity we've enjoyed for the past 50 years.

These immoral men seem hellbent on destroying the civil liberties that ordinary Americans have enjoyed for 225 years. These immoral men seem hellbent on creating a hellish future of permanent war with the goal being to steal as many of the planet's resources as they can. These immoral men would think nothing of stealing the election this autumn, as clear evidence from the California Secretary of State's Office makes plain.

Ordinary Americans have become cursed with a parasitic class of super-criminals trying to control our futures. It's a shame that our leadership has gone so entirely feral and bonkers. But that's what our reality is today.
