Either you have the shortest or the most selective memory of anyone with whom I have ever spoken. There has NEVER been any mention whatsoever of M-Star being used for voice communications. M-Star is
going to be a direct competitor with Cyberstar for Business data and
video transmissions. Iridium and Motorola have already contracted with various launch providers for the launch of their own subsequent
generations.
I do agree that Globalstar is a less expensive system. However, your
statement that they can charge the same as Iridium and make more profit while correct on the surface is once again WRONG in the real
world (perhaps you will visit us there someday) because Globalstar has
never had any intention of charging as much as Iridium. It is interesting how you are arguing from both sides of the fence. In many of your responses you have spoken of Globalstar's competitive advantage due to their lower cost and now you are writing of their enhanced profitability when they charge a higher price. One side or the other please the fence is already crowded enough. On the other hand Iridium has lowered their price to $1.75 per minute according to
the recent Goldman Sachs research report. Thus eroding Globalstar's only true competitive advantage.
Your continued discussions about the advantage of being able to upgrade on the ground rather than having to launch new satellites is just as inaccurate now as it was the first time it was mentioned and is becoming rather tiresome. Globalstar will have well over 100 gateways to upgrade, Iridium only 11. Upgrades to satellites and other space vehicles have been successfully made through radio transmissions of programming changes for a number of years. Through the first generation, at a minimum, Iridium will have more than enough demand with their current satellites. In addition, most hardware upgrades for satellite improvements will have to be made to the satellite for both Iridium and Globalstar. You have always conveniently avoided exactly what is so different about the ground stations between Iridium and Globalstar. PLEASE enlighten me.
