I contacted SI ADMIN(Dave) who objects to purely political posts on this thread. There are indeed some posters who never have anything to say about investment strategy, only political opinions. To take care of this problem is so easy; one just puts them on ignore. I also put confirmed racists on ignore. From the vantage point of an old man, let me tell you, life is short; there's not enough time to endure everyone. Someone has just posted about forced sterilizations in China, as some kind of an atrocity equated with other actions elsewhere that are almost unbelievably cruel. I ask you have you ever seen really starving people, close to death? It is so sad!. Suppose you were convinced that to avoid this catastrophe you had to limit the population to one child per family. And suppose somebody went ahead and had a second child. If you really believed that the only way out was to slow down the procreation wouldn't you understand the sterilization as the kindest thing in such a case, to get the lesson across? The matter is very important because investment in China is very important. If the regime in 2004 is simply a bunch of sadists then there's no point in losing money there. I happen to think that the society there is progressing. I'm no fan of Mao Tse Tung, he deceived me as well as great people like Lao She and professor Ma Yin-Chu, and millions of others. But he's dead now, dead dead dead. The real China has more and more freedom, so I hear from just about every source. I need more evidence to put more than my 10% in China but certainly my level of trust is slowly increasing. Anyway forced sterilizations are not necessarily any evidence of brutality.
