Sorry about the assumption of gender.
I don't know why you assume I'm gambling my savings. Why do you think I trade with my savings, per say? And why do you take my admission that I can't forecast markets (which I don't think anybody can do) in such a condescending way? And assume that your advice is fresh and can really help me, and that I should actually hand all my $ over to a money manager of some kind? I'm not saying this with any anger but really, I don't think it was to help me, so much as to voice your perspective and for some reason in a cutting way.
Not that anybody cares, but since the now booted laura_bush, aka bonnus in austin, and yesterday another poster, questioned whether I have an agenda here, I don't. I like others find this thread very funny (amusing) and particularly the ongoing dialogue btw stingray and luc (you buyin'? you sellin'?). I am glad I accidentally found it, and it really was accidental. It's amusing. The other thread I really like at the moment is DrBob's. A little bit bearish but great posters on there.
It must be about three years ago now that I participated in a seminar by Teresa Lo, which was very helpful to me. At the time I had sold puts on JDSU and I think it was in the high 60's. She analyzed the chart in class and it was free fall below, lots of air. I got out of the position and saved myself from free fall. That experience led me to continue studying with her and since the summer I have participated in the room she runs with Mike Watkins, where they mainly trade futures. My tradestation seems to be corrupted though and I had a ton of work in the last 2 months so that entire time I was not in the room. I have to reconfigure my charts and make new ones and if that doesn't work I have to do a clean install. I'm not sure why you categorized me as having little access to realtime data (if that's what you meant--unless you psychically knew my tradestation was screwed up). And I don't trade futures by the way, I just enjoy being in the room and have learned a great deal. So when I complimented Mike it's only because I've watched him trade. I would compliment Teresa as well but she's not posting on SI any longer so it's kind of pointless. There's absolutely no doubt they have enormously influenced my thinking and I have no taste for being any kind of long-term-buy-and-hold investor. I'm sure this is more than you ever wanted to know, so I apologize for the lengthy OT post, but really, it is unecessary to make assumptions about me and in such a "friendly on the surface, cutting underneath" way. Maybe some are correct and some aren't but the advice was unecessary and really not wanted on my part. |
