Exports to China predicted to rise 30%

SEOUL - Exports to China from South Korea are expected to grow around 30 percent to reach US$45 billion (52.64 trillion won) in 2004 despite Beijing's recent move to cool its economy, a trade organization forecast on Tuesday.

"China's tight monetary policy may slow down its economic growth in the second half, but the growth rate of Korea's exports is highly likely to reach around 30 percent this year," the Korea International Trade Association said.

Meanwhile, the Chinese economy is predicted to grow at an annual rate of around 8 percent in 2004, it said.
