Mark 12:28 And one of the scribes came, and heard them questioning together, and knowing that he had answered them well, asked him, What commandment is the first of all? 12:29 Jesus answered, The first is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one: 12:30 and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. 12:31 The second is this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Hard for me to believe that a Catholic school boy wouldn't know that "love your neighbor as yourself" was Christ's command, not Moses.
Hard for me to imagine that if Dubya had made that mistake, liberals wouldn't be hooting and hollering, so please don't be surprised that those of us who don't love Kerry think it proves he's a dingbat.
BTW, if you actually study Christian theology, there's an enormous significance in the distinction (Christ as bringer of the New Covenant), but I assume Kerry didn't study theology and therefore I don't expect him to know that. Moses' law was only for Jews, Christ's law was for everybody, including Gentiles. |
