It goes to show that pre-conceived notions of haughtiness or civility are not the monopoly of any one group. Broad brush strokes should not be applied.

My kid just returned from Paris and her first comments were how dirty it was, nothing like the "city of love" about which she had read. "It's just like NY."

I'm just relating not preaching here about who has better cities. It shocked me as I'm used to the negative comments about our culture, our cities, our civility, our people, our eating habits, our literature, etc., etc., from the "old world."
